Obama is the subject of too much unfair criticism
TO THE EDITOR:
I am disgusted with all the negativity toward President Obama.
I have always considered myself proud to be an American despite my differences with some of our political leaders.
When President George H. Bush lied and said, “No new taxes,” I wasn’t upset. I expect politicians to lie. But, when I hear lies about our president, I see red.
Rush Limbaugh is spreading lies. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) is spreading lies. What bothers me the most is the American people believe these lies.
I think they want to find fault in our president. People are looking for any excuse to hurl accusations at Barack Obama.
President Obama wants to provide health care for Americans who cannot afford it. People call him a socialist. People say he isn’t tough. Most recently, President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for his actions prior to his presidency. People call him a fraud.
I have never really trusted politicians. But I see a man who is not afraid to shake things up and make a stand for what he believes is right.
Why can’t other people see that? I think it is because they are afraid. They are afraid of a black president. They are afraid of change. And mostly, they are afraid of being wrong.
Wake up, America!
This is really happening.
You can fight it and deny it for the next four to eight years, but it is not going to go away.
There is a change in the air. President Obama is merely the voice of Americans who are ready for that change. Stop listening to all the lies and leave the man alone.

Let's examine your argument
Disgusted with the negativity? He's been on more Time magazine covers than any president in history. Oprah, the View, SNL and several other tv shows have hosted his insatiable appetite for tv appearances since before he was even elected. And for the Nobel? We can all agree that popularity alone garnered him that win, considering the nomination deadline was ELEVEN days after he took office.
If you want to be disgusted, be disgusted about the fact that he has accomplished ZERO since taking office. Be disgusted about the fact that he has allowed the government to spend almost 2 TRILLION dollars since taking office. Be disgusted at the fact that he is expected to DOUBLE the national debt. If you were to completely garnish every taxpayer's income for 3 years, you wouldn't even make it up.
I will agree that it is hard to hear criticism about your party's leader, but with the privilege of being a citizen comes the responsibility to hold your elected leader accountable. Showering him with unadulterated praise won't fix the mess we're in.
ZERO
No where in your rambling incoherent response did you come close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. We are all dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
A simple "wrong"
A simple "wrong" would have done just fine...
I completely agree with you
I completely agree with you but I don't think quoting Billy Madison is getting you anywhere buddy.
???
Where were we going? Why are we trying to get somewhere? Oh, and I'm not your buddy.
I see this has already been commented on plenty, but..
A few more points --
"President Obama wants to provide health care for Americans who cannot afford it. People call him a socialist."
Well... if he's pushing socialized medicine... It's up to you to decide if that's bad or not, but he is for socialized medicine and "redistribution of wealth." What more would he need to do to be feasibly considered a socialist?
"President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for his actions prior to his presidency. People call him a fraud."
Well... I'm not entirely sure how these two statements relate. I assume you mean that people say it is fraudulent for him to win the prize? Well, I think this raised questions with a lot of people... including Obama's supporters. He hasn't really done anything that influenced world peace in any way.
Also, I don't really think it has much to do with race. Do you have anything to back this up? It's quite a hefty accusation.
We got a live one!
"I think it is because they are afraid. They are afraid of a black president. They are afraid of change."
I think silence is better than commentary on this one.
Fail
I found the "Leave Britney Alone!" YouTube video with that crazy emo girl more compelling than this letter.
If you are President, you will be criticized. Not only will it happen, but it *must* happen to preserve a healthy democracy. No politician should get a free pass for any reason, ever. There are plenty of legitimate arguments against many of Obama's ideas that involve neither lies nor lunatic racism, and to ignore their existence is to be as extremist as the right-wingers who thought Bush could do no wrong.
You really want Americans to wake up? Well, here's a wake up call for you: politicians will do bad things regardless of party, so stop putting your blind faith into any of them.
D-
he's the president. of course he gets criticized.
I'm confused.
First, unless you are an older student, you would not be old enough to remember President Bush's lie about 'no new taxes'; you might have been alive, sure, but not old enough to care.
Second, what makes you so sure that the people of America are believing the so-called 'lies', because of Rush Limbaugh and Joe Wilson? Do you think the American people are incapable of original thought without a media personality to inform them?
And last - if you are planning on making Social Work a career, you might want to develop some better people skills.
This letter is terrible.
This letter is terrible. It is terrible because it makes no sense. It is terrible because it makes no logical argument. And mostly, it is terrible because you are afraid of complex sentences.
Premiere Obama has spoken.
Premiere Obama has spoken. Listen and obey, comrade.
Interesting how Democrats were eager to criticize Bush over the past 8 years but cry foul any time you come out against "the chosen one." Hypocrisy much?
Do what now?
What are you trying to say? Leave the President alone? Everyone lies...except the President?
It seems as if the general idea is that President wants to do something that (presumably) the people are behind him. So leave him alone and stop lying? Does that mean the debate is over.
This letter makes no sense whatsoever.
