The No. 3 North Carolina field hockey team is about to begin its final four game against No. 2 Virginia. The two teams have played twice this season and have split the series.

The stands are full at Kentner Stadium and the sun is slowly setting as the starting lineups are called.

North Carolina and Virginia are as expected: very equal.

The two teams have spent about the same amount of time on offense as they have on defense. North Carolina has had more penalty corner opportunities but neither team has connected on any shots.

In first half's final minutes of play, the Tar Heels held off a stong Vriginia attack.

With a couple good steals and one fantastic save, North Carolina has managed to stay on top heading into halftime.

Neither team has shown much weakness in this game and it looks like this outcome will be decided by who can make good on its opportunities.

After a much-delayed flight and an afternoon spent walking around the Big Apple, we've got about 20 minutes before No. 4 North Carolina takes on No. 15 Ohio State tonight, tipoff scheduled for 9:15 but that might run a little later. Boy, I'm sure our editors are ecstatic about pushing deadlines.

The North Carolina men's basketball team does not play again until Thursday night against Ohio State in New York City, but there will still be some UNC basketball played tonight in the Smith Center.

The Tar Heels' JV basketball team hosts Dudley High School at 7 p.m. in a matchup which features several connections to the varsity program.

North Carolina will look to win its third straight game to start the season with a contest at 4 pm against Valparaiso.

UNC is coming off a blowout win against NC Central, while the Crusaders will look to rebound from an 88-78 loss at Ball State Friday night.

The Tar Heels have owned the matchup, as the teams have played each of the last two seasons with UNC winning both times.
